Policy LINK Features Youth Voices Ahead of UN Food Summit

Policy LINK has published the second episode of its LINKCast podcast series. Part of its coverage of the upcoming UN Food Systems Summit, the episode features a conversation with a young Motswana "agripreneur" on her journey to becoming what summit organizers have termed a "food systems hero."

Olorato Sebitla offers thought-provoking insights on women and land rights in Botswana, the growing anti-meat sentiment in the west and its impact on Africa's agriculture, as well as the role technology is playing in Africa's agricultural sector.

Other highlights from the conversation include how Olorato used pet farming to build her skills before she had the means to acquire her own livestock; why goat meat, with its health benefits, may offer a promising value proposition for young farmers; the importance of livestock production, especially cattle, in Botswana, which derives an estimated 80% of agricultural GDP from beef; and the role of investment in helping cattle farmers move from subsistence to commercial farming.
